About The Sport

The Olympic competition schedule consists of 47 events; 24 for men and 23 for women.

Men’s: Track (100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1,500 m, 5,000 m, 10,000 m, 110 m hurdles, 400 m hurdles, 3,000 m steeplechase, 4 x 100 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay); Jumping (high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump); Throwing (shot put, discus, hammer, javelin); the decathlon and Road events which take place outside the stadium (Marathon, and 20 km and 50 km road walk).

Women’s: Track (100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1,500 m, 5,000 m, 10,000 m; 100 m hurdles, 400 m hurdles, 3,000 m steeplechase, 4 x 100 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay), Jumping (high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump); Throwing (shot put, discus, hammer, javelin); the heptathlon and the Road events (Marathon and 20 km road walk ).
