Steve Williams was selected in the men's four for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and won gold, successfully defending the title he won in 2004.  He was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Year's Honours list in recognition of his achievements.

Williams is the reigning Olympic Champion in the men's four and has been World Champion four times. He won his fourth world title in 2006 when taking gold with the men's four in the World Championships at Eton.
