Matthew Langridge was selected in the men's eight for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The eight produced an exceptional performance in their heat, qualifying directly for the final where they won a silver medal in a thrilling race with Canada and the USA. 

Langridge has won his place in the men's four for the 2009 World Cup series, winning gold in Lucerne.

At the 2009 World Championships in Poznan Langridge along with Alex Gregory, Ric Egington and Alex Partridge won gold in the mens coxless four.
