At the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games James Goddard swam in the individual medley and finished sixth.

 

At the 2009 World Long Course Championships in Rome, Goddard finished sixth in the I.M. At the British Championships Goddard won gold in the 200 I.M, silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 400 I.M.

 

Goddard made his Great Britain debut in 2000 and his Olympic debut in 2004 at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
