Biography

The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were Kirsty Balfour’s second Olympic Games. She competed in the 100m breaststroke and palced 15th and the 200m breaststroke were she placed 20th.
 
At the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Balfour finished tenth in the 200m breaststroke competition and sixth as part of Team GB’s 4x100m medley relay team.

The 200m breaststroke has consistently been Balfour’s strongest event and she has claimed an impressive list of medals in the discipline. This includes silver at the 2007 World Championships, silver in the 2006 Commonwealth Games and gold in the 2005 European Championships.

Balfour also claimed a Commonwealth bronze medal over the shorter distance of 100m breaststroke and silver in the same event in the 2005 European Championships. She also added a gold medal to her 2005 European Championships tally in the 4x100 medley relay.
