Biography

One of the greatest hurdlers in history, but incredibly he never won an Olympic gold medal. The closest he came to Olympic glory was in 1988 when he won Olympic silver behind Roger Kingdom in Seoul. He finished outside the medals in his three other Olympic finals.

He had a superb record in other championships. The highlight of his career being World titles in Stuttgart in 1993 and Seville in 1999. Jackson dominated the European Championship with four consecutive gold medals.

He also won the Commonwealth Games twice and after hitting the first hurdle in Manchester he recovered to take silver.

Jackson retired in 2003 and is now a BBC TV pundit and also coaches a group of Welsh athletes. He has appeared on the TV show "Strictly Come Dancing".
