Emma Pooley competed in the Road Race at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and played a key role in helping Nicole Cooke take gold. Soon after the road race, Pooley won silver in the Olympic women’s time trial event.

Pooley first represented Great Britain in 2007 in the Road World Championships where she finished eighth in the Road Race and ninth in the time trial.
