Acer Nethercott was selected as cox of the men's eight for the Beijing 2008Olympic Games and won a silver medal.
 
Nethercott has coxed the Great Britain eight for the past three seasons, and won bronze at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich. In the 2008 World Cup series, he coxed the eight to second and third place.

Originally, from Harlow in Essex, Nethercott went to school at Mark Hall Comprehensive and then Broxbourne School.
