Richard Egington

Egington learnt to row at Warrington and is a product of Leander Club's development scheme.

He made his international debut in 2003 when he raced in the coxed four at the World Rowing Championships in Milan. The crew established themselves as strong medal contenders by winning their heat and qualifying directly for the final. There they raced neck and neck with the USA but had to concede the gold medal in the last few strokes, winning a creditable silver.

In 2004 Egington endured a frustrating time with illness and injury but he returned to fitness in 2005 going on to represented Great Britain in the men's eight at the World Championships for the next three years finishing fourth in 2005 in Japan, fifth at Eton in 2006 and winning bronze in Munich in 2007.

Egington won bronze in the eight at the 2007 World Championships. He came fifth in the eight at the Linz World Cup in June 2007, won a bronze in the eight at the Amsterdam World Cup and came fourth in the eight at the Lucerne World Cup. In the 2008 World Cup series, he raced in the eight finishing second, third and first.
