Tom Lucy was selected in the men's eight for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and won a silver medal, finishing in front of the Americans and behind the Canadians.

Lucy made his senior GB debut aged 19 when he won a place in the men's eight, which won bronze at the World Championships in Munich. At the first World Cup of 2008 he raced in the men's four, substituting for an injured rower, when the crew impressed with an exceptional performance to win gold.
