At the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Louis Smith won a bronze medal in the men’s pommel horse, becoming the first Briton to win an Olympic medal in individual gymnastics since Walter Tysall in 1908.

Smith began gymnastics aged four and quickly progressed at the sport and particularly on the pommel horse, which has become his most successful event.
