At his second Olympics, the Beijing 2008b Olympic Games, Ross Edgar won silver in the Keirin. At the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Edgar had finished fifth in the Individual Men’s Pursuit.

He is a former National Junior Sprint and Kilo Champion. Although from Suffolk, his Scottish ancestry means that he represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games where he picked up bronze in the Team Sprint. In 2002 and 2003 he benefitted from a placement with the World Cycling Centre's sprint school in Lausanne, under the watchful eye of former champion Fred Magne.
