Chris Newton missed out on the 2008 World Championships due to a broken collar bone. However, at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Newton managed to win bronze in the points race; this involved lapping the field twice. He just missed out on silver, losing out on the last sprint.
Born in Stockton on Tees, Newton is a versatile cyclist who has represented Great Britain in various events. An integral member of the very successful British Olympic squad he took a Silver medal at the Athens Olympics, a Bronze medal at Sydney.
